The Myanmar military junta arrested 64 civilians across Mon State in February, according to a report by the Lagon Eain Bulletin.
Many of these arrests were part of mass forced detentions carried out under the junta’s controversial conscription law.
A social worker from Mawlamyine told MPA, “Most of the arrests are related to the junta’s forced conscription. From what I know, they mainly operate at night in Mawlamyine City, particularly on the outskirts and at the city’s entry and exit gates. However, we haven’t heard of conscription-related arrests in nearby towns.”
According to the Lagon Eain Bulletin, 15 people were killed and 23 injured in February, highlighting persistently high levels of human rights violations compared to previous years.
Mon State reportedly witnessed 13 armed clashes in February, with the highest concentration in Kyaikto Township.
Additionally, junta forces carried out heavy weapon attacks and airstrikes, destroying one school and three religious buildings while damaging more than 47 homes.
