The National Unity Government (NUG) Prime Minister, Mahn Win Khaing Than, emphasized that true relief for the people can only be achieved when revolutionary forces work together to swiftly dismantle the military dictatorship.
Speaking at a government meeting on Tuesday, the prime minister highlighted the sharp rise in the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) across Myanmar, which has surged from 370,000 to 3.5 million.
He stated, “Revolutionary forces are fighting to defeat the military junta while also doing their utmost to support those suffering under military oppression.”
He also emphasized that revolutionary forces must prioritize the well-being of the people, stay committed to their objectives, and work through differences at a time when unity is more critical than ever.
He further noted, “I believe everyone has noticed the growing international attention on Myanmar, from neighboring countries to the European Union (EU). This movement could have both positive and negative implications for our country.”
He stressed the need for careful assessment and swift responses, as crises can sometimes present opportunities.
Looking ahead to 2025 as a year of overcoming challenges, he expressed confidence in the NUG’s ability to navigate them successfully.
