Junta troops have reportedly tortured and killed the father of a People’s Defense Force (PDF) member in Okpho Township, Bago Region. The victim was found with his hands tied behind his back, according to local sources.
Junta forces arrested two women and two men from Gway Chaung Village in Okpho Township on Friday.
Among them, the father of a PDF member was reportedly tied with bamboo strips and beaten to death by junta troops on the Chaung Tin Kwin communications road around 5 a.m. on Sunday. His body was later abandoned by the roadside, according to a local PDF member.
A PDF member from Company 5 under Thayarwady District Battalion 1 explained, “The township administrator and military intelligence agency carried out the arrests. The victim was detained while attempting to flee after observing the arrests from a distance. Around 15 operatives in plainclothes identified the man as the PDF member’s father using a photo before killing him.”
The victim was confirmed to be the father of a PDF member affiliated with Thayarwady District Battalion 1, Company 5.
An Okpho resident reported that Yin Maung, the 100-household head from Kwayt Gyi Chaung Village, allegedly informed military intelligence and coordinated the arrests.
The other detainees—two women and one man—remain in custody at Okpho Police Station as of Monday morning.
