PDF forces intercepted a military convoy advancing towards Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, killing eight junta soldiers, according to reports.
On October 11, around 5:00 AM, between Zee Kone Village and Zee Kone Kyun Village, PDF forces launched a sudden attack on a military convoy of around 70 troops from Infantry Battalion 256 in Yesagyo Township. The clash lasted for over an hour, according to the report of the Yesagyo Township People’s Defense Team (Pakapha) released tonight.
“They entered in the early morning. Our forces had to move out of Zee Kone Village for a moment. Around 5:00 AM, the clash took place between Zee Kone and Zee Kone Kyun Villages,” the communication officer of Yesagyo Township Pa Ka Pha told MPA.
Following the clash, PDF recovered an MA3 rifle, four magazines of MA3 rounds, an MA11 rifle, three magazines of MA11 rounds, 275 bullets, and an Energa grenade.
“When we recovered firearms, we saw bodies piled up. Two of these bodies were found floating in the water,” the source said.
One Pa Ka Pha member from Yesagyo Township was killed, and two others sustained minor leg injuries.
“The battle was intense. One of our units was pinned down under heavy fire while trying to recover firearms. Another unit provided cover fire for them. When the military started firing at the unit giving cover, one of our comrades got hit. We tried to get him medical treatment, but he didn’t make it in time and passed away on the way,” the source continued.
On October 12, during the clearance operation in the clash area and Zee Kone Village, PDF forces allegedly found the bodies of a monk and two middle-aged male civilians who were killed by the military and buried alongside six dead soldiers.
The military convoy has moved to the Pakhan Gyi police station in Yesagyo Township as of today.
MPA could not verify the death toll of the soldiers.
