The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) reported Tuesday that Myanmar military junta troops opened fire on a nine-vehicle convoy carrying humanitarian aid from the Chinese Red Cross Society.
The convoy was en route to deliver relief supplies to communities affected by a recent massive earthquake.
According to the TNLA, the attack occurred around 9:12 p.m. on Tuesday in Ohn Ma Thee village, Nawnghkio Township.
Although the convoy was intended to head to Mandalay, it retreated to Nawnghkio following the incident.
The TNLA stated it is now providing security for the convoy and is committed to ensuring that the aid reaches its intended recipients.
