The Myanmar military junta committed 43 mass killings over a four-month period, with 26 of these incidents caused by airstrikes that led to mass civilian casualties, according to a report by the Nyan Lin Thit Analytica Research Group.
The Nyan Lin Thit Analytica Research Group reported that the Myanmar military junta’s airstrikes, artillery bombardment, and crossfire targeting civilians have resulted in large-scale casualties.
Between September and December 2024, at least 44 mass killings were recorded, each with five or more civilian deaths. Of these, 43 were carried out by the military, killing 356 people.
A female political activist stated, “During this revolutionary period, the military junta has intensified its violent actions, deliberately oppressing and killing civilians. This is intolerable. We must continue to resist the junta from wherever we can.”
The report found that more than half of these mass killings occurred in Sagaing Region, with 12 incidents in Rakhine State.
Of the 26 mass killings caused by junta airstrikes, 10 took place in Rakhine State, five in northern Shan State, four in Sagaing Region, two in Magway Region, one in Kachin State, and one in southern Shan State.
