The People’s Defense Force (PDF) reclaimed electrical equipment from a junta-operated power station and used it to restore electricity in a village that had been set on fire by the military in Mandalay Region’s Myingyan Township.
After seizing cables and other electrical materials from a power distribution station in the Si Mee Khon area—operated under the junta’s Ministry of Electricity—People’s Defense Force (PDF) forces restored electricity in a village that had been previously burned down by the military on Feb.15, according to Myingyan District Battalion 9 (Myingyan Black Tiger).
Bo Mike Ke, commander of the Myingyan Black Tiger Battalion, told MPA, “The military troops don’t dare to come out. If they did, we wouldn’t have been able to act. Since they stayed inside, we seized the materials and used them for public benefit. We’ve been installing power lines in villages under our control, especially those the military destroyed. Some unusable scraps were sold to fund essential projects.”
Once the cables were installed, electricity was restored immediately, with only a few houses left to be connected.
“The installation was done with the help of skilled local electricians. Now, the entire village has electricity, and all power lines along the roads have been reconnected,” he added.
Myingyan District Battalion 9 (Myingyan Black Tiger) stated that they would continue working through legitimate means to support the well-being and livelihood of local communities in their controlled areas rather than for personal profit.
