The military junta launched aerial bombings on several villages in Monywa and Chaung-U Townships, Sagaing Region, killing six civilians, including three women, and injuring 20 others.
A Y-12 transport aircraft from Tada-U Air Base conducted 18 bombing raids around 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday and at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Chaung-U People’s Defense Force (PDF).
The information and communication officer from the Chaung-U PDF told MPA, “Nine times at night and nine times in the morning. Each time, they dropped five or three bombs randomly. We can’t confirm the exact size yet. These are non-conflict areas; they just came and bombed.”
Due to the attacks, a woman in her 50s from Thit Seint Village in Monywa Township, a man in his 50s and a woman from Nyaung Hpyu Pin Village, and a family from an IDP camp in Chaung-U Township—a five-year-old boy, an eight-year-old girl, and a 70-year-old man—were killed.
Among the injured are civilians from other villages in Monywa and Chaung-U townships, and they are receiving medical treatment.
