The military junta dropped three bombs on a school and clinic in western Demoso Township, Karenni State, on Thursday.
A school official at the scene said a jet fighter dropped three bombs on an area in western Demoso Township around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
“The jet circled twice. On the second pass, it dropped one bomb on the clinic and two more on the school. The school and clinic are just across the road from each other, and bombs were dropped on both sides. It was a deliberate attack on civilian facilities,” he said.
A village administrator confirmed there were no casualties but reported that at least seven buildings were destroyed.
“The clinic and school were both damaged. Although two bombs hit the school, they landed in different spots, causing widespread destruction. The junta targeted an area populated only by civilians, which is terrifying. We’re unsure what type of bombs were used, but they were extremely powerful,” he added.
Karenni-based aid organizations have warned that preparations for further aerial attacks are underway in Karenni State, as junta forces have repeatedly targeted schools and clinics in western Demoso Township this year.
