An airstrike by the Myanmar military junta has killed one woman at a food stall serving internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Bawlakhe Township, Karenni State.
On Thursday evening around 9 p.m., a bomb struck a food stall near Nan Phe Village in Bawlakhe Township, Karenni State, killing one woman and injuring two people.
A spokesperson for the Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) confirmed the incident, stating that the woman, who owned the food stall, died in the attack. Two individuals, believed to be transport drivers, were injured but their condition is not critical.
The spokesperson told the Myanmar Press Agency (MPA) that two buildings, which were actually small huts used as shops, were completely destroyed. They added that displaced persons were residing near the food stall and that the military junta likely targeted the area deliberately.
While some locals reported an airstrike, the KNDF is still investigating the exact nature of the attack.
