The Myanmar military carried out an airstrike on the General Hospital in Singu Township, a resistance-controlled area, according to the People’s Defense Force – Mandalay (MDY-PDF).
The airstrike hit the hospital at approximately 12:15 a.m. on Friday. Photos released by the MDY-PDF show extensive damage to buildings within the hospital compound.
According to the MDY-PDF, Singu Town and its surrounding areas are far from active conflict zones, yet the military indiscriminately targeted the public hospital, which serves the local community. The group stated that in recent days, the junta has increasingly attacked public hospitals, calling this latest strike one of the most blatant war crimes committed in plain sight.
The statement did not disclose casualty figures from the attack.
The MDY-PDF fully secured control of Singu Town on July 20, 2024.
