In Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, the military reportedly carried out a bombing using a paramotor shortly after midnight. The attack targeted the home of a naval sergeant’s father, destroying the house and killing a woman in a neighboring residence.
The military dropped a bomb on Tharzi Village in Taungtha Township at around 1:45 a.m. on Friday. The attack targeted the home of U Sein Win, the father of a naval sergeant, setting it on fire. A 70-year-old woman from a neighboring house was killed in the incident, according to a statement from the Taungtha People’s Movement Committee.
A local resident from the western part of Taungtha Township told MPA, “The bomb landed in two places. One fell on the road without causing any harm, but the other hit U Sein Win’s house directly. The woman who died was a neighbor with no familial connection to him. The explosion caused a fire that spread to nearby houses. The woman’s abdomen was ruptured, and she died as a result.”
U Sein Win had already fled his home after a previous attack on Wednesday, when the military junta bombed Tharzi Village using a jet fighter.
“They weren’t there at the time of the bombing,” the resident added. “They had already left after the airstrike on Jan.21.”
The Wednesday airstrike injured a 55-year-old woman and caused damage to several houses in the village, according to local reports.
