Duwa Lashi La, Acting President of Myanmar’s National Unity Government (NUG), stated that the military junta is currently at its weakest point in terms of power and control.
He also emphasized the critical need to encourage soldiers within the junta to adopt a correct perspective and align themselves with the people. Simultaneously, he highlighted the importance of unifying and strengthening the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) and other revolutionary forces operating under the NUG’s command.
These remarks were made on Tuesday during a National Unity Government meeting.
“The art of war is not solely about winning through combat; true strategy lies in achieving victory without fighting,” the Acting President remarked, underlining a strategic approach to revolution.
He further noted that an armed revolution cannot succeed in isolation. To this end, the Ministry of Defense must continue fostering political unity while simultaneously enhancing military coordination and solidarity among forces.
The Acting President also instructed PDF members to remain prepared to fulfill their defense duties across any region of the country, emphasizing the importance of a collective approach. “This is not a situation where one can be content with merely safeguarding their own territory in isolation,” he explained.
Duwa Lashi La acknowledged the progress made by the NUG in building trust with ethnic armed revolutionary groups, but admitted that these efforts remain incomplete.
“Trust-building with allies is not a task that ends once initiated—it is an ongoing process,” he said. “Throughout the revolutionary journey, we must actively and consistently sustain this effort.”
He stressed that only through continuous trust-building can stronger alliances and robust political agreements with partners be firmly established.
The Acting President concluded by emphasizing that maintaining the trust of allies is critical not only for the NUG but also for the broader Spring Revolution. This, he stated, is essential to achieving their shared goals and advancing the revolutionary cause.
