Two military junta lieutenants were reportedly killed in a raid carried out by the People’s Defense Force (PDF) on a military base located at civil servant staff quarters on the outskirts of Myinmu Town in Sagaing Region.
Moe Nyo Revolution Force (MNRF) announced today that they attacked a military unit of approximately 20 soldiers stationed in the government housing on the bank of Ayeyarwady River near Myinmu with both heavy and light weaponry around 4:30 AM Wednesday and the clash lasted around 45 minutes.
Ko Moe Nyo, commander of MNRF told MPA, “During the fight, we could hear cries. So far, it is confirmed that two officers of lieutenant rank have died, and three others were injured. The injuries are reportedly not severe.”
During the clash, Junta forces stationed at no.1 Basic High School in Myinmu Town supported with heavy artillery fires and reinforce troops arrived with two military vehicles, prompting PDF forces to withdraw.
Following the clash, the military temporarily withdrew from the civil servant staff quarters. However, they returned later that day with reinforcements to reassert control over the site.
Artillery shells fired by junta forces during the incident reportedly struck areas within the town, injuring three local residents.
The civil servant staff quarters have largely been abandoned by government employees since the military seized power, leaving the site to be occupied by military forces.
The attack was a coordinated operation of allies resistance forces involving the Moe Nyo Revolution Force (MNRF), Dog Killers People’s Defense Force Myinmu (DK-PDF MMU), People Defense Team – Myinmu Township (Pa Ka Pha – Myinmu Township) and Pa Ka Pha – Western Myinmu Township and Zayar Shwe Myay . Soldiers of resistance forces reportedly withdrew from the scene without casualties.
MPA has not been able to independently verify the reported casualties and injuries among junta forces.
