A confrontation between Myanmar junta patrol troops and local defense forces broke out near Myay Ne Village in Monywa Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers and injuries to three others, according to a statement by the Black Hero Local People’s Defense Force.
The local defense forces encountered the junta’s ambush patrol troops near Myay Ne Vilage around 3:30 PM on Monday while they were en route to attack a military convoy and fuel tanker trucks passing along the Mandalay-Monywa Road.
“We were targeting the convoy coming from Sagaing. But, we engaged with about 20 soldiers stationed near Myay Ne. The skirmish was brief, lasting around three minutes,” a Black Hero LPDF official told MPA.
The deceased soldiers were transported back to Monywa in a military convoy after the clash.
“We received prior information about the ambush patrol and happened to encounter them when the convoy arrived. Since we were aware of their presence, our side didn’t sustain any casualties,” the official added.
The Black Hero LPDF, Bhamahti Revolutionary Group, IDIOTS COLUMN and The Brightness Monywa jointly participated in the clash.
MPA could not independently verify the reported casualties among the soldiers.
