The Myanmar junta army, facing significant defeats in ground battles, conducted airstrikes on residential areas in Laukkai today, marking the anniversary of Operation 1027. The airstrikes injured four civilians, according to reports.
More than three bombs were dropped over Laukkai by fighter jets around 12:20 AM today (October 27), with impacts in the Shengfeng Cheng area, damaging a hotel, roads, and houses, according to MNDAA’s report.
“The military, losing ground battles, is resorting to indiscriminate airstrikes, targeting civilians in a cowardly manner. Today, they also bombed Namhkam. Officials had already warned residents in Namhkam about potential bombings for the Operation 1027 anniversary,” said a revolutionary fighter based in Lashio.
TNLA also reported that the military dropped three bombs in Namhkam, a town under TNLA control, earlier this morning, at around 7:30 AM.
“Operation 1027 remains a permanent stain on Min Aung Hlaing’s record. On this anniversary, they are targeting civilians as they are unbearably frustrated,” the source added.
The military council continues airstrikes targeting civilians in MNDAA-controlled Lashio almost consecutively.
At least 1,044 civilians were killed, and 1,383 injured in clashes and junta’s civilian-targeted attacks between July and September 2024, with Northern Shan State recording the highest civilian casualties, according to the Nyan Lin Thit Analytica.
