A column of military junta burned alive four men from Kyarkhe Village while raiding Htilin Township, Magway Region.
A military column of about 80 soldiers that had previously left Shwe Htee Hall in Htilin Town around 7:00 PM on October 25, launched a sudden strike on Kyarkhe Village at approximately 4:00 AM today (on October 26). One person was shot dead, and four others were reportedly burned to death, according to the Yaw Revolutionary Army (YRA-Htilin).
“They arrested four middle-aged men and burned them alive. Civilians who managed to escape the village reported hearing their screams. When we finally gained access to the village, we found the remains of those burned,” Ko Kaung, the communication officer of Yaw Revolutionary Army (YRA-Htilin) explained to MPA. “One of the victims was shot while trying to escape as the soldiers entered; he later died from blood loss while in hiding.”
The individuals who were burned to death were Ko Win San Oo, Ko Min Thu, Ko Myo Kyaw, and Ko Than Sein Min, all in their 40s. The person who died from blood loss was Ko Nay San Win.
Kyarkhe Village, located about four miles southeast of Htilin Town, is home to about 80 households.
“We launched drone strikes targeting that column at 11:15 PM and again at 12:10 AM. Landmines were also detonated, with reports indicating some damage, but the extent of casualties remains unknown,” said a local defense force member.
The military column has since returned to Htilin Town, detaining three more civilians from Kyarkhe Village.
