Ten children, around 15 years old, who were herding cattle near Wathondara Village in Madaya Township, Mandalay Region, were reportedly arrested by the State Administration Council (SAC) Military.
The arrest of these ten children took place in the afternoon of 11 October, around 12:30 PM, near Wathondara Village in Mattaya Township. As of today (12 October), 5 PM, the children have not yet been released, according to a resident from the western part of Mattaya Township.
“After arresting them, they made the children wear military uniforms. I heard they were taken to Htitawmoe Military Camp. They have not been released yet. The children arrested are between 14 and 15 years old,” a local resident from the western part of Madaya Township, told MPA.
Htitawmoe Village, located approximately 12 miles from Mandalay, is known to host the No. 5 Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Battalion and the No. 2 Military Recruitment Unit, according to available information.
Since July of this year, SAC has been conducting arrests in villages within Madaya and Patheingyi Townships, using excuses such as verifying guest lists. Local young men have been taken and transported to the recruitment camp in Htitawmoe Village, as reported.
Currently, clashes are ongoing in Madaya Township, according to local sources.
