Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun has called on the international community to strongly oppose the sham election prepared by the military junta.
On October 4, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, made this appeal during a speech at a meeting held at the UN headquarters in New York.
“The international community and ASEAN need to loudly and clearly state that the junta’s election does not align with ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus. If they can’t provide tangible assistance to the people of Myanmar, they should at least speak out clearly,” said a political activist based in Monywa.
Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun stated that the people of Myanmar strongly oppose the sham election organized by the military.
He stressed that any election conducted by the military regime would not be free, fair, or inclusive, highlighting the junta’s election is not a solution to the crisis but will instead prolong the conflict and increase violence.
The ambassador further urged the international community, the United Nations, and particularly the UN Security Council, to take effective actions to save the lives of Myanmar’s people. He also reiterated the people’s ongoing calls to halt the flow of weapons, ammunition, aviation fuel, and financial resources to the military.
