PDF forces launched a sudden attack on junta soldiers advancing towards Gamone Dam in Okpho Township, Bago Region, resulting in the death of twelve soldiers and severely injuring 14 others with the capture of weapons and ammunition, according to the report of Military Subregion-2, Southern Military Region.
Around 9 AM on October 3, a military convoy of approximately 40 soldiers advanced from Wine Village police station in Gyobingauk Township, towards Gamone Dam in Okpho Township. This military column from Light Infantry Battalion-6 under the Light Infantry Division-66, was assaulted by company-4 from PDF battalion-3802, according to reports.
“A few days ago, our comrades had secured Gamone Dam, so the junta troops advanced towards it. The clash initially started with our forces stationed at the dam near the signboard. Then our reinforcements arrived, intensifying the battle,” Yebaw Du Yar, the information and press officer from Thayarwaddy District PDF Battalion-3802, told MPA.
The clash lasted for about an hour, after which the junta column retreated to the Wine Village Police Station in Gyobingauk Township. The revolutionary forces were not injured in the battle, according to reports.
“We heard that the soldiers were receiving medical treatment at the Wine Village police station. We’ve also heard that the junta is preparing to launch another attack in the area between Okpho, and Gyobingauk,” the source added.
The military council troops, upon facing significant casualties, are reported to be planning to launch another offensive using troops from Okpho, Minhla and Gyobingauk.
