In Sagaing Region, a woman from the western part of Ye-U Township, was reportedly killed today after being hit by an artillery shell fired by the junta’s military forces.
At around 8:40 AM on October 3, four artillery shells were fired from the military base at the traditional medicine hospital in Ye-U town, landing near Than Thin Village in the western part of the township and killing a 39-year-old woman, according to Ye-U Township People’s Defense Team (Pa Ka Pha).
“The shells mostly landed in fields near the village. One person, who was pulling weeds, was hit in the head and died,” said an official from Ye-U Township Pa Ka Pha to MPA.
The body has reportedly been taken to her home.
“For now, her body is at the house. According to village customs, there are traditions of keeping the body for three days while relatives gather. There’s no military operations here right now, so the family is waiting for everyone to arrive,” the official added.
On July 5, another artillery shell fired from the same hospital struck four villages in western Ye-U, killing a woman in her 40s.
