The military junta carried out another airstrike on the residents of Lashio during the night time, injuring nine civilians, with three requiring emergency medical treatment.
At around 10 PM on September 30, the military dropped four destructive 500-pound bombs on the densely populated Ward 12, Mann Na Village in Lashio, damaging numerous homes, according to a statement released by the Lashio Reconstruction Committee.
“Northeastern Regional Military Command in Lashio falling under the control of MNDAA is a permanent scar on the military’s history. It shows that Min Aung Hlaing became Commander-in-Chief without any strategic military vision, as proven by MNDAA. That’s why the military is retaliating against the civilians of Lashio in a vengeful manner. I expect they will soon be digging mass graves for their soldiers,” a resistance member based in Lashio told MPA.
The Lashio Reconstruction Committee reported that the ongoing bombings by the military have caused more destruction to homes, buildings, offices, and markets than during previous military operations.
Since September, the junta has launched what it calls a counter-offensive, carrying out indiscriminate bombings across the country, disregarding civilian lives and property. Junta’s airstrikes on Lashio had become more frequent throughout late September, according to the MNDAA report.
Following the MNDAA statement shared on its official Facebook page on September 18, that it was ready for an immediate ceasefire and peaceful negotiations, the military continued to bomb the residents of Lashio on September 21, 24, 25, 27, 28, and 30.
