In Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region, the military convoy advancing in Chaysay Village faced heavy resistance and reportedly suffered significant casualties, according to the People’s Liberation Army.
On September 27, revolutionary forces blocked and engaged the military convoy of around 60 troops as they entered Chaysay Village in Myingyan Township. The battle lasted from around 5 AM to around 11 AM, according to the Northwest Military Region, No. 815 Unit, People’s Liberation Army.
“The battle occurred as the convoy was entering the village, near the Chaysay Cemetery. The enemy retreated about three positions. While we were engaging them, they launched airstrikes with bombs. The Light Infantry Battalion-15 based in Myingyan provided support with Howitzers and heavy artillery, forcing us to withdraw. As the enemy was retreating along the creek, their drones bombed areas where our comrades were positioned, so we had to fall back as well,” a soldier from the No.815 Unit – Northwest Military Region, told MPA.
During the engagement, the military junta dropped eight bombs using two fighter jets, supported by Howitzers from the Myingyan-based Light Infantry Battalion-15 and also conducted drone strikes.
“They used air support and heavy artillery to assist their retreat into Chaysay Village. They are still in the village, and I believe they are likely to give treatment to their wounded there,” the source added.
Although there were casualties among junta soldiers, the exact number of dead and injured has not been confirmed and no revolutionary fighters were injured, according to Bo Mike Ke, Commander of Myingyan District Battalion-9 (Myingyan Black Tiger)
“We don’t yet have the exact casualty numbers. The area is still being cleared as we speak,” he said.
The attack was conducted by a coalition of the 815 Unit-the Northwest Military Region of People’s Liberation Army, Yekhaung Guerilla Force(PLA), Myingyan District Battalion-9 (Myingyan Black Tiger), with other revolutionary forces.
