The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) said that amid the ongoing severe flooding across Myanmar, the State Administration Council (SAC) Army has continued to target civilians with airstrikes.
TNLA announced that on 14 September, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM, the SAC Army carried out airstrikes on Naung Hkio town’s Thabyay ward, which is under TNLA control with two 500-pound bombs dropped by jet fighters, and at least eight rockets.
“Even while civilians are suffering from devastating floods, the SAC Army continues killing civilians. The persistence of such acts reveals the depth of their hostility. Min Aung Hlaing seems to harbor a grudge after facing multiple defeats against TNLA and Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA). Unable to achieve direct victories, they are now deliberately targeting civilians in areas under TNLA and MNDAA control,” A resistance Soldier based in Lashio stated.
Of the two bombs dropped today, only one detonated, while the other failed to explode and the strike caused damage to civilian houses, according to reports.
On 13 September, SAC Army bombed Naung Hkio with 13 bombs, leading to significant damage to civilian houses.
MNDAA announced that around 7:00 PM on 13 September, SAC forces launched airstrikes on Nampong village in Thanlwinlinho Township, Hsenwi District, an area controlled by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA). The attack caused the deaths of five civilians and injuries of eight others.
TNLA said that despite the ongoing flooding disaster, the SAC Army continues their acts of terrorism by conducting daily airstrikes, specifically targeting TNLA-controlled towns such as Kutkai, Nanghkan, Mantong, Hsipaw, Kyaukme, Naung Hkio, and Namhsan as well as refugee camps throughout the whole country and civilian areas in Rakhine, Chin, and Kachin States with 500-pound bombs capable of causing mass casualties.
