The State Administration Council (SAC) forces reportedly set fire to the homes of Resistance soldiers in Yonepin Village, Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region.
At around 8:00 AM on 6 September, police and Pyu Saw Htee militia from Zagyan and Thanaungkone villages in Taungtha Township entered Yonepin Village and torched several houses, according to the People’s Movement Committee – Taungtha.
“That force consisted of about 50 personnel. Their main targets were the houses of Resistance soldiers and some civilian homes. We are still gathering information on the exact number of houses burned. It seems they acted based on intelligence from someone,” an official in charge of the People’s Movement Committee – Taungtha told MPA.
Reports indicate that the arrival of police and militias forced residents of Yonepin Village to flee in haste.
“The whole village fled in the morning. Now, the SAC forces have withdrawn, and some residents have returned to the village. As far as I know, those 50 SAC personnel are still camped in Zagyan Village,” he added.
At around 5:00 AM on 5 September, artillery shells fired by SAC forces exploded in the eastern and northeastern areas of Suloon Village, Taungtha Township, injuring 3 civilians.
