The military junta conducted an airstrike in Mantong, a town controlled by TNLA in Northern Shan State, injuring two civilians, according to reports.
Around 11 PM on September 3, the military council deployed bombs, hitting and destroying a private tea leaves factory and five nearby houses in Myoma Ward on the outskirts of Mantong.
“The bombs were dropped around midnight. Two male workers at the tea leaves factory were injured, but there were no deaths,” a resident of Mantong told MPA.
Following the airstrike, early this morning (September 4), people refrained from going outside, with most stores and shops in town closed.
Between July 14 and September 3, the military junta launched multiple airstrikes on Northern Shan State towns: Laukkai, Theinni, Kutkai, Namhsan, and Mantong, despite no ongoing clashes. These bombings have resulted in the deaths of 20 civilians and injuries to nearly 40 others, with around 1,000 houses and buildings damaged.
TNLA seized Mantong on December 22, 2023, during the first phase of Operation 1027.
