Reports indicate that vessels carrying junta troops have departed from Mandalay Port, heading towards Thabeikkyin.
Around 12:30 PM. On August 28, the vessels: two battleships, one coastal landing craft, and two tugboats that departed from Mandalay Port, were traveling along the Ayeyarwady River towards Thabeikkyin Township, according to the Wetlet Informational Network
“The vessels are heading to Thabeikkyin. Right now, they have reached Singu Township. On the way, they are firing heavy artillery at villages along the riverbanks,” a source from Wetlet Informational Network told MPA around 11:00 AM on August 29.
Due to the artillery shelling aboard, seven civilians from Nge Toe Village in Madaya Township were injured, according to a statement from the Yaung Ni Nwe Oo group.
The exact number of junta troops aboard the vessels is still unknown.
On August 28, at around 8:30 PM, two civilians from Auk Taung Kaing Village in Madaya Township were injured by artillery fire from the military stationed in the town.
Thabeikkyin, located in Mandalay Region, was taken over by revolutionary forces on the morning of August 25, and a lieutenant colonel, along with 68 assorted firearms, was captured alive, according to reports from the Military Region-1.
