U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s U.N. ambassador urged the international community not to support the election that the SAC is planning by any means.
The ambassador said that the people of Myanmar think any election held by the State Administration Council (SAC) can’t be a free, fair, and all-inclusive election, and it can’t be the answer to the current problem. Moreover, it will only extend the suffering of the people.
“I suppose that ambassador urged the international community like this might be due to the words of Wan Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, saying they support the Five Point Road Map of the SAC in his recent visit to Naypyidaw and SAC’s announcement of China support the election that they are planning,” a political columnist based in Yangon told MPA.
The ambassador also claimed that the current situation in Myanmar has been entirely ruined as a result of the SAC Army’s repeated terrible actions.
U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s permanent representative to the United Nations (UN), made these remarks during a meeting at the UN headquarters in New York City on August 26.
Wan Yi, China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, arrived in Naypyidaw on 14 August and met with Min Aung Hlaing, the military chief who conducted the coup, and Then Swe, the former dictator.
