A military operation, Rain of Fire, was conducted on the Taungoo Military Airbase in Bago Region, resulting in eight deaths, including a Colonel and a Captain.
Around 3:30 PM on August 26, Taungoo Military Airbase was assaulted using 114mm short-range missiles and kamikaze drones, resulting in 21 injuries, according to a source from the KLOUD Drone Team.
“Over 10 kamikaze drones and short-range missiles were used in the attack on the Airbase. Eight military personnel, including a Colonel, were killed, and 21 others were injured. The damage to the buildings is still unclear. Our key message is that Min Aung Hlaing will not escape,” the source told MPA.
This operation was conducted under the instruction of Southern Military Region JOC and command of the Military Sub-Region – 2, with the collaboration among No.2 Military Sub-Region Heavy Artillery Unit, Shar Htoo Waw Technology Unit, KLOUD Drone Team, Battalion-5 under No.2 Brigade of KNLA, Special Battalion-2 of No.2 Brigade, and No.2 Taungoo District People’s Defense Forces Battalion 3502, along with the Central Military Command and Naypyidaw Military Command, according to the National Unity Government’s (NUG) Ministry of Defense.
MPA could not independently verify the deaths and injuries of the soldiers in the attack.
