In Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region, junta troops on patrol were attacked by PDF forces, prompting the junta soldiers to abandon one of their vehicles and flee.
On August 24, around 11 AM, junta troops including members of the Pyu Saw Htee militia led by Thida Yumon, were on patrol, heading to the checkpoint at the southern exit of Myingyan Township, by two armored vehicles and six four-wheel-drive cars. PDF forces launched a sudden attack, resulting in a half-hour skirmish, according to the Myingyan Black Tiger Group.
“The incident occurred between Myingyan and Taungtha. The first group that arrived had about 60 troops. We’re unsure of the exact reinforcements that followed. There could be significant casualties on their side since they were forced to abandon their vehicle and flee. However, we haven’t confirmed the exact number yet,” Bo Mikeke, leader of the Myingyan Black Tiger Group, told MPA.
Due to concerns about potential airstrikes, the PDF forces did not seize the abandoned vehicle.
“When we surrounded and fired on one of their armored vehicles, they fled, leaving it behind. However, as we were about to take the vehicle, we noticed air support approaching. The aircraft did not fire at us, but if we had continued forward to seize the vehicle, it could have targeted us,” the source explained.
The Myingyan Black Tiger Group has urged civilians to avoid unnecessary travel on the Myingyan-Natogyi-Taungtha road, as they plan to intensify the Myingyan District Special Operation in the area.
Myingyan Black Tiger (Myingyan District Battalion-9), Myingyan District Battalions 1 and 2, including the Sune Ye Guerrilla Force collaboratively launched the operation after which PDF members managed to withdraw without casualties.
