It is reported that a local man was killed and 2 others were injured due to the artillery fired by the SAC army near Hpayargyikone, Hsipaw City, the northern Shan State.
A resident of Hpayargyikone said that an artillery shell exploded on a house in Hpayargyikone, Hsipaw City at about 10:40 AM today (24 August), killing a man who resided next to that property.
“Where the artillery shell exploded was near the house of the man who died today. There were people in the house where the shell burst. They were fortunate and they didn’t hurt. The one who was hurt was an uncle who was over 40 years old and lived next to that residence. When he ran towards the main road, his head was hit, and died,” he claimed MPA.
A 60-year-old woman and a man who were near the scene were injured and they are currently receiving medical treatment.
“Volunteer groups brought the uncle’s dead body to the mortuary. Among 2 injured ones, the grandmother is in critical condition,” he continued.
It was inquired by MPA that the majority of Hsipaw citizens who were war refugees are now returning to the city and the mobile phone and internet connections are available again in most areas in Hsipaw city.
