In Myaung Township, Sagaing Region, resistance forces launched a raid on Kyaukyit Police Station, causing significant casualties to the military council troops. Following this, they reportedly called in air support.
The resistance forces, advancing in three convoys, began the assault on the Kyaukyit Police Station, where both junta soldiers and police officers were stationed, before 8 AM on August 23 and continued until around 12:30 PM.
“Our attempt to seize Kyaukyit Police Station was almost successful,” Ko Nway Oo, a representative of the Civilians Defense and Security Organization of Myaung (CDSOM), told MPA.
During the attack on Kyaukyit Police Station, the military responded with four airstrikes and two bombing runs.
“Heavy casualties were reported on the enemy side, but our revolutionary forces also suffered losses,” the source added.
Approximately ten revolutionaries were injured during the operation, with one in critical condition.
The attack was a joint effort between local revolutionary groups and regional PDF forces in Myaung Township.
