On August 21, A PDF attack in Myaing Township, Magway Region, resulted in the deaths of five junta soldiers, including a major, according to the Myaing People’s Defense Team.
At around 4:30 AM on August 23, after a junta convoy stationed in Kaingtawma Village retreated to Thayetkan Pyu Village, the bodies of Major Min Thein Kyaw, Sergeant Khin Maung Lwin, Private Ye Yint Thway, and two unidentified soldiers were reportedly discovered, along with captured ammunition including 81 mm and 40mm mortar shells and RPG rounds during the clearance operations.
“After the skirmish in previous days, they took their wounded for treatment, but some didn’t survive. Four bodies were buried, and one was left covered with palm leaves. We also captured mortar shells from a monastery they used as a base,” said a member of Myaing People’s Defense Team to MPA.
On August 21, PDF forces attacked the convoy east of Kaingtawma Village, reportedly killing 12 soldiers, capturing five surrendered soldiers, and seizing 19 firearms, according to the Myaing People’s Defense Team statement released on August 22.
The military responded with three airstrikes during the attack, targeting unrelated areas and damaging a civilian house, according to the today’s report of Young Force UG.
This convoy had been stationed in Myaing Township since June 17, to deliver supplies.
The exact details of the soldier casualties could not be independently verified by MPA.
