Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) is calling and checking ward administrators for the rehabilitation of Lashio city, Northern Shan state.
3 days after capturing North-Eastern Command on 3 August, MNDAA called and checked the respective administrators of wards in Lashio city.
A local woman from Lashio city said that there are ward administrators who served in 2020 and also who served after the coup among the administrators checked by MNDAA.
“They called every respective ward administrator. They also contacted former ward administrators who served before the coup. And then, they did investigations. They just investigated whether they would cooperate with them or not. They didn’t do anything to them. It is ok if ward administrators don’t want to cooperate. They don’t force them. The most important point is they have to give the data of respective villages and wards,” she said.
MNDAA also did the same thing in Kulong, Chinshwehaw and Hsenwi cities which they captured in the first phase of Operation 1027.
MPA called the Department of Information and Police Station of MNDAA to inquire about the check on ward administrators and villages but they didn’t answer.
MNDAA announced on 25 July that currently they are establishing a military administration council to do administration and rehabilitation of the Lashio city and so they notify government officials, teachers, doctors and nurses to return to their respective duties.
“Kokang have announced even before the end of battle that they will call all the government officials: CDM and non-CDM. I think the current check is to use them where they are needed. Officials can’t run away. They have all the data,” a local man from Lashio said.
He explained that on August 5, MNDAA strictly checked entrance and exit of Lashio city and only allow the one with 13/LaYaNa(N) started National Registration Card (NRC) to enter the city but on 7 July they allowed everyone regardless of their NRC number to enter or exit the city.
MNDAA announced that currently they are cleaning the roads of Lashio along with the civilians and captured robbers as well as returning robbed things to the owners after the battle ends.
Moreover, MNDAA released over 800 out of over 2,000 family members of soldiers captured from North Eastern Command.
MNDAA announced that they also gave 50,000 Myanmar kyats to each released families.
