In commemoration of the 36th anniversary of the 8888 Uprising, anti-dictatorship protests were held in central Yangon, hailing “Rise Up, Defiant Yangon Populace”.
Today, on August 8, protests were organized in central Yangon, featuring the number ‘8’ and the slogan “It’s Our Turn: Rise Up, Defiant Yangon People” with protesters wearing red T-shirts and displaying red balloons, symbolizing their resistance, according to a statement released by the Yangon People’s Strike.
Despite tightened security measures by the military council in Yangon, this protest aimed to awaken the entire nation and encourage people to stand up against injustice rather than remain passive.
