It is reported that the military council troops set fire to flood-affected Koyint Village in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region.
On the morning of August 6, a column of military troops, including Pyu Saw Htee Militia members, entered Koyint Village in Yesagyo Township, burning down 23 houses, according to Yesagyo Township People’s Defense Team officer comrade Waigyi.
“Twenty-three houses were set on fire by the military troops and Pyu members who had arrived at Hinthar pyu Village. After setting the fire, they retreated to Hinthar Village. Koyint Village is a village that was submerged by floods. Many crops were destroyed, and the entire village suffered from the flood. Now with the water receding, the villagers have returned to their homes,” he told MPA.
Since July 6th, about 130 villages, approximately one-third of Yesagyo Township, were inundated, due to the rising water levels of the Chindwin River and the Ayeyarwaddy River, affecting around 27,000 households, according to the Yesagyo Township People’s Administration Team.
