The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) announced that they captured over 400 weapons including Howitzer artillery in the siege of Mongmit city, Shan state.
After TNLA seized Naung Hkio and Mogok cities, they seized Mong Mit city on 31 July as the third city in the second phase of Operation 1027.
“As far as we know, the State Administration Council (SAC)’s army defended as hard as they could not to lose Mongmit city. They launched airstrikes and also artillery strikes. But the mentality of their ground force is as low as zero, so they could not manage to defend and lost,” a People Defense Force (PDF) soldier based in Northern Shan state told MPA.
TNLA announced that SAC’s army launched 29 airstrikes with fighter jets, 38 airstrikes with Y12 military transport aircrafts, 14 weapon and ammunition supplements for the ground force with Y12 military transport aircrafts, 221 artillery strikes and used one 500-pounds bomb and 18 shells of Multiple Launch Rocket System during the offensives on the military camps and bases in Mongmit city.
TNLA completely captured all the military bases commanded by a senior tactical operation commander in Mongmit around 1:00 PM ,31 July.
TNLA started offensives on the military bases in Mongmit on 27 June and captured completely on 31 July.
Mongmit city is a city where the bases of no.332, no. 276 infantry battalions and no.348 light infantry battalion under no.12 Operation Command of SAC’s army are located.
