It is reported that the Chin National Front (CNF/CNA) and its Joint Chin Defense Forces captured the Taingen military camp of the junta in Tedim Township, Northern Chin State, on the morning of January 16.
Ram Bawi, the spokesperson of CDF CDM-Siyin, told MPA that the Chin National Front (CNF/CNA), led by CDF CDM-Siyin, CDF (KKG), CDF (Thangtlang), CDF (Hakha), CDF (Haulngoram), and PDA, launched an attack on the Taingen camp at 5:00 p.m. on January 12 and completely captured it at 7:30 a.m. on January 16.
“We haven’t caught any of them alive. They (the junta troops) resisted us like a suicide squad. We only found dead bodies. There were about 29 bodies found. We lost eight people on our side. More than 60 were injured,” he said.
Taingen outpost of the junta is located at the tri-junction—the India-Myanmar main trade route—Kalay Town in Sagaing Region—Tedim-Falam Highway in Chin State—and is the last remaining interval camp in Chin State.
He added that the junta army had continuously provided 120mm heavy artillery support from Kalay Town during the battle to prevent the fall of the military important Taingen camp, and they had continued to provide daily air support since January 13th.
“In Chin Land, Thai Ning is the last interval camp. Now, many of the traffic and trade routes have become free. It is a very important place,” the information officer of the CDF (KKG), which participated in the joint battle, told MPA.
A large number of weapons and ammunition were also seized during the battle, and the types and quantities are still under investigation.
