More than 100 residents from Loikaw in Karenni State have fled to Demoso Township seeking refuge since mid-November. According to a central committee member of the Demoso Township IDP Relief Committee, over 70 households from Loikaw have been displaced as of Monday.
The committee member told MPA, “For now, we are managing to provide shelter for the IDPs in available spaces like monasteries and schools. However, their primary needs remain food supplies, rainproof shelters, and menstrual hygiene products.”
These displaced individuals are currently being accommodated in a temporary location within Demoso Township.
Residents have expressed concern that heavy fighting may break out in Loikaw as military junta troops in the area are reportedly stockpiling supplies and reinforcing their weaponry in preparation for military operations.
