The Chindwin Attack Force reported that the Northwestern Regional Military Command (Na-Ma-Kha), based in Monywa, Sagaing Region, fired back at the PDF troops with chemical weapons.
On March 19, at around 2:00 p.m., eight shells were fired at the Na-Ma-Kha entry and exit checkpoint, and after 5 shells exploded over it, the SAC troops fired back with two chemical shells.
“Yesterday, we fired eight rounds at Na-Ma-Kha, 5 of which hit their gate. They fired back with chemical weapons. They fired two rounds back. The shells exploded a short distance away from us and emitted white smoke. We were hit once before, so we retreated immediately,” said the information officer of Chindwin Attack Force Battalion 2, 3, 4 of Monywa District.
The attack was carried out jointly by Monywa District People’s Defense Force Battalion-2 and Monywa District People’s Defense Force Battalion-2, Company – 4, Fight for People.
MPA could not confirm whether the ammunition fired back by the SAC troops was a chemical weapon or not.
“We have been hit by chemical weapons once before. We suffered for a long time. We became dizzy. Our eyes started stinging. We started to feel nauseous. One of our comrades was hit by that weapon and could not escape. He was arrested and killed. This time we retreated at once,” he said.
On October 10, 2022, when the SAC troops raided the Chindwin Attack Force camp, a comrade hit by a chemical weapon could not escape and was captured and killed by the SAC troops.
