At least eight soldiers were killed and many wounded when a SAC column was attacked in close proximity in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region.
On March 15th, at 3:30 p.m., a 70-troops column from the Infantry Battalion 258 based in Yesagyo was attacked by local defense forces near Ma Au Park for about half an hour while leaving Sin Phyu Shin Bridge Gate Station to Ma Au Police Station.
“The battle took place on the way back of their column from Sin Phyu Shin Bridge to the Ma Au Police Station. About 70 soldiers were walking on foot. Behind them was a Dyna car.
There were documents and their packages in the car. We started shooting at the seven soldiers at the easternmost point between the trees near Ma Au Park and the railroad tracks. We started shooting at the seven soldiers first. They were about 100 meters away from us.
They fell right there. That column also fired back with heavy weapons and small arms. The Ma Au police station was close to where the battle took place, so they fired heavy weapons from the station. Then, reinforcements arrived,” said the information officer of Yesagyo Township PDF.
When the reinforcements arrived and the PDFs retreated, a PDF soldier was hit by a bullet in his thigh and was injured in a non-critical manner.
It is known that the dead soldiers and the wounded were taken to Infantry Battalion -258, and the MPA cannot confirm the death of the soldiers separately.
The attack was carried out jointly by the People’s Defense Force (Yesagyo – Pa Ka Pha) and Pakokku District Battalion No. 9 and the Super Fighter Drone Force.
On March 8th, the SAC column that entered from Myaing Township to Yesagyo was bombed by drones from the Yesagyo Pa Ka Pha and the Steel Hawk Drone Unit.
