The Pakokku People’s Defense Force reported on May 25 that more 7 PDF members surrendered to the SAC military with weapons and money due to the persuasion of Defense Team Pakokku leader, Aung Thu (b) Snake, who had surrendered to the SAC military in Pakokku township, Magway Region, in April.
Aung Thu (b) Snake who is a son of U Zaw Win, lives in Thiri Sanda Street of Ward No. 5 of Pakokku town. He accompanied some of the revolutionary activities in the early days of the revolution, but later kidnapped and arrested and demanded money from the people believed to be related to the military council, giving the reason of lack of funds.
Therefore, his actions are in consistency with the policy of the National Unity Government (NUG) and the code of conduct to be followed by soldiers. That’s why, he was warned and request for a solution by the Township People’s Defense Force and the revolutionary forces for lowering the image of the revolution. Then, he surrendered to the military council without being able to solve the problem.
It is reported that “due to the persuasion of Aung Thu (b) Snake, on May 25, 3 PDFs under his leadership also surrendered to the SAC along with 2 machine guns, 40 million kyats obtained from the kidnapping and ammunitions. The 4 people, including the leader of the Earthquake Defense Force, also surrendered to the military council along with 2 machine guns and 2 billion kyats”.
“We strongly condemn the act of betraying the people by taking weapons and ammunitions that were bought by public money and they are protected by the people. We want the future PDFs to really protect the people, follow the Code of Conduct and be loyal to the people,” an official of the Pakokku People Defense Force told MPA.
It is reported that those who surrendered to the SAC military were Sai Chit Tone (b) Rara (b) Ngsai (father) U Kyaw Thu; Thaw Zin Khant (b) Eikwe (father) U Win Myint; Wai Phyo Pai (b) A Thalay (father) U Meyit Gyi; Aka Soe Myint (b) Tut Pi (father) U Soe Myint; Win Min Aung (b) Win Gyi (father) U Khin Zaw; Myat Min (father) U Htoo Aung and Thet Naing Oo (b) Apu (father) U Tai Chit.
Min Thant Zin, a revolutionary poet from Pakokku told to MPA, “the main thing is that the weak ropes are cut off. We should not do armed revolution with superficial feelings without conviction. If we have chosen the armed revolution path, we should not trust the campaign of the SAC”.
The Pakokku People Defense Force announced that “they will take action against these 8 people who disguised the revolution and surrendered to the military council with money and weapons. The Battalions (Pa-Ka-Fa) based in Pakokku and Myaing Townships; PDF forces, the local defense forces and the revolutionary forces have made necessary preparations to avoid from base camps, as soon as possible because of the possibility of information leaking from these escapees.
