“The 3 Bingo cars from the military council came up. It looks like it was hit by a mine. It’s not an express car, it’s a normal car. It’s a white car with a roof on the back. We thought it was a military car and mistakenly shot it. 1 citizen was killed and 6 were injured. Only 1 car from the military was hit,” he said.
MPA could not confirm the casualties of soldiers and passengers yet.
Myeik local residents said that for about four hours after the mine attack, the military council stopped allowing traffic at the junction of Zwe Road and Takuk Road on the Myeik-Tanintharyi road.
“The junction of Zwe Street and Takku Road is where there is a large army gate. There are many soldiers at that gate and it is always a place of war. That road was closed from the 7th to the 13th. There was no announcement, but the military spoke to motorists who were always crossing. I have not seen anyone cross it yet. It was closed from May 7th to 13th. It was not a problem for a week, but if it takes too long, it may cause problems for the people,” said a Myeik resident.
At around 7:30pm on April 1st, Myat Mandalar Tun’s passenger car, which was driving from Myeik to Kawthaung, came into the middle of the battle outside Tanintharyi town, and a 6-year-old child and 1 woman were killed by bullets and five people were injured, due to the misfire by PDF Battalion-2 of Myeik District.
