It was known from a local, on March 20, 50 soldiers of the SAC from Infantry Battalion – 50 (Kha-La-Ya – 50), who had arrived in the southern part of Gangaw township, entered and raided the Pan Htaik village and killed a man in his fifties.
It is said that after the SAC troops killed the man, the body was thrown into a broken well in the western part of Pan Htaik village. At present, four more locals are said to be missing. It was reported that they are 50 years old and are Pan Htaik villagers.
“I don’t know whether the person who was killed was from my village or another village. He was about 50 years old. His legs were tied with a rope. Then the body was also injured and thrown into the well. It was not known who he was because he was rotted for a long time,” said the resident.
He added that the victim is believed to have been killed after being captured while running away while their column was raiding.
According to the residents, the SAC troops killed cows and pigs in the area while they were on the raid, and took 500 visses of cooking oil, TVs, refrigerators, and motorcycles from the monastery.
The villagers from Pan Htaik village had to flee for nine consecutive days from March 20th to 29th, and after the SAC’s military column left on March 29th, it is known that most of the villagers are returning to the village.
