Seikphyu-Bamati-People’s Defense Force said that due to the SAC Military’s deployment, more than 5,000 people in more than 10 villages in Seikpyu twonship, Magway Region are fleeing from the war and are having difficulty even picking onions when they are in season.
Since February 26, 100-strengths column of the Military was stationed in Sharhla village in Seikphyu township, and was divided into 3 lines, and they are deploying to the nearby villages of Ywathar Kone, Kik Pyin, Thetnge Kyin, Ton and Kyung Chaung.
“The column started to deploy from Pathein-Monywa Road, and on the 26th, it was stationed in Sharhla village and was patrolling the nearby villages,” said a comrade of the Seikphyu-Bamati People Defense Force.
It is said that the local people have abandoned their onion fields because of the Military’s patrolling, and they will be destroyed if time passes.
“People in our District grows the most onions. Now it is the time to pick onions. Now they are not picked. People don’t even dare to pick onions as well as go back in the village. If we go and pick them, we will be arrested. We might even be killed,” he said.
It is known that since February 26th, the Seikphyu-Saw road has been closed by the local defense forces, and it will be reopened today on 2nd March. The local defense forces have requested the public not to park cars for any reason between Kansonma village and Ain Gyi village, and to drive drown the mirror of the car.
