More Become Sick in Yangon and COVID Suspect Patients Among Them
By MPA
While Covid fourth wave is being feared, clinics in Yangon region have seen increasing patients since early February, private doctors say.
The visiting patients have signs of nose itching, cough, throat pain, headache, discomfort of body and hands and they are being advised to take extra care, says a general practitioner in Haling Thar Yar.
“Within over a week, ten days, patients have been increasing and we suppose it’s because of Covid. There are at least about ten Covid suspect patients”, he said.
Usually, from 30 to 40 patients are treated in a day and now it’s about 90 patients a day and the majority are sick”, he said. “Among 40 treated before, it wasn’t just sickness and there were patients with diabetes. But now only about ten are casual patients. The rest all have sickness”, he said.
A general practitioner in North Dagon also said daily visiting patients have doubled and about 60 are being treated a day.
There were mass Covid infections in Jivitadada Sangha Hospital and Mingaladon lens factory within Yangon region and the ministry of health under the SAC also reports there are over a thousand new Covid infected patients every day. However, general practitioners say the case could be higher than now on the ground.
Requests to charity associations for hospital drops have also increased, said an officer from Hmyawaykhansar Tweletmyar charity association.
“Once dropped to the hospital and tested, it’s Covid. It’s become more frequent”, he said.
Among those who’ve requested help from them within a week, about 20 of them have been Covid patients, he said.
A woman from South Okkapala township said, “Many amongst friends have had Covid. Many have posted on social media that they have tested positive for Covid”.
Those infected by Covid this time are not too serious – unlike the Covid third wave – and they tend to recover within five days, said a general practitioner in Hlaing Thar Yar.
For those who feel sick, if you suspect yourself, put on a mask, wash hands, avoid mass gatherings, stay separately and if you can’t make it to hospitals or clinics, ask help from the nearest doctors either via online or by phone, general practitioners have informed.
