Airstrikes by Myanmar’s military junta on Yae Chaung Bo village in Mandalay Region’s Madaya Township killed one woman and injured three others on Thursday morning, according to local sources.
The attacks occurred around 11:45 a.m., with the first strike dropping two bombs and a second launching four suspected rockets. A 35-year-old woman was killed, while a 47-year-old woman and a seven-year-old girl were injured. A 61-year-old man sustained serious injuries.
“There were two rounds of strikes. The first dropped bombs, and the second involved what we believe were rockets. People were hit while still inside their homes,” a local resident told MPA.
The airstrikes also triggered fires and the collapse of several homes.
In a separate incident on April 4, junta forces carried out an airstrike on Ward 1 in Singu Town, also in Mandalay Region, seriously injuring two civilians and damaging homes.
These attacks come despite the junta’s announcement of a nationwide ceasefire from April 2 to 22, aimed at facilitating earthquake relief and promoting stability.
