Following clashes in Myaung Township, Sagaing Region, the military junta launched paramotor airstrikes and artillery attacks, resulting in the reported deaths of four civilians, according to local sources.
Military forces stationed in Myaung launched artillery strikes toward nearby areas around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, killing one man from Hlay Tin U Village in the south of Myaung and another from Kyi Kone Village in the north, according to Myaung PDF CDSOM.
Ko Nway Oo, commander of Myaung PDF CDSOM, told MPA, “The shells appear to be 81 mm, as 60 mm shells wouldn’t reach Hlay Tin U. Clashes also broke out on Wednesday.”
In addition to the artillery fire, junta forces deployed paramotors for aerial bombings, resulting in two more civilian deaths and the destruction of two homes in Myaung.
“One of the paramotor bombs hit a house, killing two people and injuring another. Three additional bombs struck the eastern part of Ku Toet Kone Village,” the source said.
As a result of the attacks, residents from Hlay Tin U and Ku Toet Kone villages have fled their homes.
Artillery shelling from junta troops continued Thursday morning, with paramotors observed flying over the area.
The full extent of casualties and damage from Wednesday’s clashes in Myaung Township remains unclear.
