U Yee Mon, Defense Minister of Myanmar’s National Unity Government (NUG), has called for a nationwide large-scale offensive against the military junta as part of the third phase of the Spring Revolution.
In a message to the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) commander training graduation ceremony on Saturday, the defence minister called for intensified military action to dismantle the junta.
He outlined the three phases of Myanmar’s Spring Revolution.
In its early stages, the resistance focused on forming defense forces while carrying out limited military operations across the country.
The second phase involved consolidating strength, launching strategic offensives, and gaining combat experience through urban battles and military base seizures.
“The third phase focuses on PDFs, People’s Defense Teams, and all allied revolutionary groups joining forces to launch a nationwide general offensive with tens of thousands of troops across all fronts. We believe this offensive will bring an end to the military coup,” said U Yee Mon.
He also emphasized that the PDF was created with two key objectives– to unite all armed forces of the Spring Revolution under one banner to drive a people’s revolution for system change, and to serve as the foundation for a federal democracy-aligned federal union army.
The NUG Ministry of Defense reported Thursday that the commander training completion course ceremony was held Saturday in NUG-controlled territory, with 115 trainees from Sagaing, Magway, and Mandalay Regions in attendance. The program was organized under the directive of the PDF Headquarters.
