The Myanmar military is building a paramotor runway at the No. 13 Advanced Military Training Depot near Twin Nge Village in Thabeikkyin Township, Mandalay Region.
Comrade Ni Ni Kyaw, General Secretary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), stated that construction is ongoing at the site, though the exact start date remains unknown.
“Building an airstrip requires considerable time and financial investment. Given the presence of a helicopter base, we believe they are constructing a runway for paramotors, or motorized paragliders,” she told MPA.
She stressed the need for revolutionary forces to counter the military’s use of paramotors.
“The military is deploying various tactics, worsening hardships for the public. People must stay vigilant and take shelter in bomb-proof areas,” she warned.
The training school, situated at the intersection of the Myitkyina-Bhamo-Mandalay road leading to Mongmit Town, serves as a high-level academy for military officers and includes a helicopter base.
The PLA and allied forces besieged the facility on Aug.17, 2024. The military responded with ground and aerial attacks, ultimately forcing resistance forces to withdraw from Twin Nge Village on December 5.
